MEET JASIAH

Help us congratulate one of our former clients, Jasiah! We are thrilled to celebrate his remarkable journey! He arrived at the Rescue Mission in April 2024 with only a shopping cart of belongings after facing significant challenges with his family. Since then, Jasiah has shown incredible resilience and growth.

He secured a job at Hungry Howie's and has been a dedicated employee ever since. Driven by his desire to pursue higher education, we connected him with the TRIO program at Gulf Coast State College, which covered his tuition, books, and eventually room and board through several grants. He also secured a second job at GCSC!

Additionally, our staff worked to assist Jasiah in applying for the Pineapple Willy's Foundation Scholarship, and we are proud to announce that he has been awarded $2,500! Jasiah is well on his way to becoming a college graduate.

We recognize the blessings he has received and wish him all the best as he continues on this exciting journey. He just moved into his own housing! Godspeed, Jasiah! We are so proud of your accomplishments!

MEET ROBERT BUNN

Please read Robert's story of courage and triumph…

Rob was the victim of childhood trauma from an early age.  It was severe enough that he was removed from his parent’s home and placed in a children’s home. Unfortunately, when he aged out of the children’s home, he ended up on the streets for two years. When Rob came to the Mission, he was ready for help, and he received it.  He responded well to our case managers, and they lined up other helpful care for him. With our assistance, he quickly got a job and proved himself reliable.  Then he applied for enrollment at Gulf Coast State College through their TRIO program and can go to college for free. He now attends classes full time and works to cover his expenses. He recently moved out of our shelter and into the college dorms! We are so proud of you, Rob!!
