Help
them find shelter from the heat
Heat
exhaustion, stroke, dehydration, hunger and dangerous insect bites. Not exactly
how you would envision a summer in Panama City. Yet, this is what the homeless
in our community face every day.
Summer
creates life threatening risks for the men, women and children we serve.
It challenges our mission.
Add
to that loss of jobs because of the economy and the devastating oil spoil in the
Gulf of Mexico!
Those
who depend on summer tourism jobs, such as housekeeping or food service at local
resorts, are finding their hours cut back drastically. Some are being laid off
completely. These individuals are coming to the Mission for help finding jobs
and food.
The
summer months are typically the toughest time of year financially at the Panama
City Rescue Mission. Giving goes down as many of our faithful donors are away on
vacation or simply don’t realize that the dire needs facing the homeless
continue even in the summer. And the economy has made things worse by bringing
more people in search of help.
Please
continue your generous support by helping us provide food and shelter to a
homeless man, woman, or child.
Your
gift of $23.38 will provide meals, shelter, and other vital services for 1 day,
$46.76 for 2 days, or $163.66 for a week. The gift you send today will have an
immediate impact in the life of a homeless person.
