Klothes for Kids 2014 Helped Hundreds of Local Families

During the two days of distribution, Klothes for Kids reached 956 children, or 431 families. Additionally, we gave 300 uniform tops to Bay District Schools to help 150 more children.

This project is made possible by the generous support of Living Word Fellowship’s Got Your Back program, dozens of local churches, sponsors, and the community. For the 11th year we spent all summer collecting more than 6,000 uniform items (tops, bottoms, underwear and socks, shoes), at least that many more after school clothes, and school supplies for local families in need. We sorted them at the Bargain Center and set up a free store for distribution on August 15-16 at the Central Panhandle Fairgrounds.  Hundreds of volunteers came out to help with distribution each day. Many local restaurants helped feed our volunteers during the two-day distribution. And, Bay District Schools staff were on hand to make sure all our clients were registered for school.

Most of all, we want to say thank you to the committee! Without the tireless work of these committee members: Gail Camperman, Donna Wilbanks, Ronnie Wilson, Taylor Muma, Suzy Murphy, and Marci Fish, this project would not have been possible.
