Mission Recognized as Samaritan Award Honoree by the Acton Institute's Center for Effective Compassion

Our success is measured by the number of sober, godly, formerly homeless people who have returned to society as productive members as a result of our programs. Our unique ministry gives us the potential of seeing real and lasting life change. We expect some concrete outcomes; especially for a program graduate that reflects such change. Our goal is that with God’s power, we help these clients be the best they can be.

While the Mission continues to provide basic emergency services, it is placing greater emphasis on recovery, encouraging motivated people through the steps to responsible, independent lives. How does the recovery program fit in the overall ministry model of Panama City Rescue Mission? Click here.

People who come to the Mission for help are victims of poverty, powerlessness and hopelessness; they suffer from the tragic consequences of violence, drug/alcohol abuse, child abuse, teen pregnancy, illiteracy, unemployment and depression. They need much more than basic food and shelter to turn their lives around.

For those who are willing to take a purposeful step in recovering from the issues that contribute to their homelessness, two free long-term recovery programs are available in our Pathways Ministries:

“Power to Choose” for men

at our downtown location

"Bethel Village" for

women and children

at a residential location

These are comprehensive recovery programs that address not only the immediate basic needs for shelter, but also causative agents for this situation.

Crossroads Transitional Phase

Once a student has taken the steps needed to complete his or her program and is ready to transition out into self-sufficiency, they enter the Crossroads Program.  For the men, it is an apartment located on the Salvation Army's campus. For the women, it is a private room at Bethel Village. Each tenant pays a small fee for room and board while saving for rent and deposits.
